I just came back from my son’s appt. and the pediatrician says my son has eczema. It’s a mild case. He told us to try fragrance free soaps and shampoos. I know Aveeno has a line of them. Has anyone tried them and does it work well? What about Johnson’s new line of soothing natural products?

My babies had it too. Aveeno worked very well for them, and also Palmers cocoa baby butter. It is great! Also, my doc told me when my kids got out of the bath to try not to dry them off with a dry towel. She actually told me to get a damp washcloth and get the excess water off of them with it and try and let them air dry as much as possible. I found it hard to do in the winter b/c they were cold, but when I did it it worked pretty good.

My son had it. I used aveeno lotions and i actually used Gerber Grins and Giggles bath products.. I use the one that has oatmeal in it. After using this all the time for bath time, he never had any problems at all and hes 1 yr now.! Also if he gets it on his face or cheeks.. I used a little of Aquaphor lotion its clear… good luck?!

You should also determine the cause of the eczema. Many times it is related to a food allergy or other causes.
Rather than treat the problem why not avoid it in the first place. Talk to your doctor and/or see a specialist.

My baby has a mild case of eczema and we were told to only bath her once or twice a week and rarely use soap. When we do it is aveeno and its great! We also lube her up with the aveeno cream lotion once or twice a day and her skin is doing well. I’m not sure about Johnsons soothing natural products though. I read the ingredients list when I was looking for products and I think there is fragrance in it but I’m not sure. It might be worth a try. We were told at her 2 month check up she had a little eczema and now at 4 months its much better. I can hardly feel it. Hope this helps.

I looove AVEENO’S baby products. my son had mild eczema and their lotion helped a lot. i also LOVE their diaper cream. it’s a bit pricey compared to the other ones out there, but theirs contains oatmeal extract and some other goodies that the other’s don’t. aveeno and “triple paste” are the only diaper creams my son’s **** responds too…just inc ase you have the same problems!!

    take care:)

I have eczema myself and for me the best kind of soap is just Dove fragrance free bar soap. Also, make sure you wash every day but not for too long and obviously not in water that is too hot. That will dry out the skin more. It does for me anyway.

funny enough my 35 yr old cousin has it, her 17 yr old daughter has it. My hubby , me and my 15 month old have it as well. And they say it’s not contagious. That’s funny. But anyways.. after my baby’s pediatrician said she had she told us to use Aquaphor or citaphil. I use aquaphor( i hope im spelling them right ) . It’s alot like petrolium jelly but it’s got other things it that are great for skin. It’s fragrance free and although it’s greasy at first it dries fast and doesnt stain clothing. It also makes your skin sooo soft and silky. aquaphor is a lotion and citaphil is a body wash. they make body wash, wash wash. and acne lotions too.
